I just found out from a urologist that the urinary tract infection type symptoms that I have been getting are because of untreated Bacterial Vaginosis. I had no idea that I had it. I dont have the common symptoms such as weird discharge, itchy, or foul odor. but i just got prescribe Flagyl. 2 a day for 3 days. and I wonder when should I see results. also if I have sex will I smell bad even though I have none of the common symptoms. Im sorry but that would be very embarrassing
Im sorry it was 2 a day for 5 days.

had been having discharge and irritation for months and finally i got myself to go into family planning, and was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis. I am now taking flagyl 500 mg 2 a day for 7 days. I started taking them on sunday. Will this compltely cure me of bv? These pills make me kinda sick, and When does the discharge and symptoms usually start to go away?
BTW, my doctor said this is totally not trasmittable and my partner does not need to be treated.

I am prone to getting bacteria infections. I will take Flagyl pills for 10 days and it will clear up only to come right back in 2 months. I know its not sex, because I have went months without sex & I will still get them. I always wipe myself with wet tissue to clean my bottom & vagina thoroughly after using the bathroom. I dont do anything to cause it to keep coming back, but yet it always does. I get sick of going to the doctor 4-6 times a year for the same thing. I felt like they werent letting me in on a secret because they want to make money. What can I do to stop reoccurences? I do have an extremely moist & warm climate down there. I think that has a lot to do with it because that is a good environment for bacteria to grow.

I went to the ER and was told I have vaginitis. At first I thought the bumps were genital herpes, but I was given an STD free bill health and sent home with some pills. The pills didn’t make the irritation go away and now I’m having a problem with burning. I bought Vagisil and its only helping with the itching. Along with that more bumps appeared and they were bigger and burned and itched but they went away after two weeks. The original bumps are still there. Could I have been misdiagnosed with vaginitis and it’s actually genital herpes?
Honestly, I can’t remember if the doctor said I had Vaginitis or Vaginosis. All I was given was yeast infection meds. No flagyl. The burning got worse after I took the pills.

How will i know if i have a yeaster infection or BV? What are yeast infection symptoms? I have a fishy odor down there during/after sex. Also white/grey/clear discharge. Sometimes itching. Which one is it more than likely? Are the symptoms the same? And can i purchase Flagyl for BV over the counter without a prescription in Virgina?

Hi. I am 9 weeks pregnant and I had some slight spotting on Sunday, so I went in for an ultrasound on Monday morning. Baby looked great, measuring right on target with a good heartbeat.
I went back in yesterday for a pelvic exam and discovered I have bacterial vaginosis. I was prescribed Flagyl for this infection, but my doctor told me that it isn’t recommended in the first trimester because there haven’t been any studies performed on women in the first tri taking this medication. He said if it gets worse to go ahead and take it, but if it isn’t bothering me, to wait until 12 weeks.
I am nervous that letting this go "untreated" for 3 more weeks will hurt my baby. Me and my husband tried for 7 months for this little one and we love him/her so much already, I would be devastated if something happened. So my question is… Have you been in this position? If so, what/when did you take the medication? Also, do the risks of getting an infection in my uterus outweight the risks of Flagyl?
