well technically they are called "STI’s" now for "sexually transmitted infections." While it IS technically considered an STI, I don’t think it would qualify as an STD because for the most part they do not have any symptoms. The reason they changed the name to STI is because it is more encompassing, including infections that may be asymptomatic.
Another name for this is bacterial vaginosis…It is totally nothing at all to be worried about, it’s not an STI like gonorrhea or chlamydia, it’s actually fairly common and equivalent to the severity of a yeast infection or a bladder infection. If there are no symptoms it usually does not require treatment.
